CSU

Uh boy I have not one nice thing to say about that place! First of all they're a college here in Colo. They teach many things including a vast number of items in the horse industry. Great... Many people want to learn about the industry and that's a wonderful thing and I heavily promote that.. CSU, however, has only one thing in mind, money and more money and more money. They do not teach such things as the animal comes first, the well being of the animal is not a concern for them, in any way..

The reason for this write up today, my dog had a prolapsed vagina. She was dumped out here and we've kinda gotten fond of her over the months that we've been trying to find her a home. She needed an emergency spay. Six months old no trauma never been bred, just kinda fell apart. CSU wanted $1,200 to spay my dog. Now I'm not even remotely stupid! And that is a major insult! Being a vet tech I understand fully what is involved in this surgery and something just is not right in Denmark. Ok yes she's in heat, that makes her a little more at risk because her blood is thinner and it might take longer to close her up. Ok so the surgery takes 30 minutes instead of 20. The prolapse, once spayed take a single stitch from the vagina to the cervix, ok then another 5 minutes added to the time to preform the surgery. And this costs $1,000????????????

I have been to them with problems, simple problems that they couldn't figure out.

I stood in their barn for 5 hrs waiting for them to get to my appt that I was on time for. They refused to allow me to handle my own horse "for their own safety". They then proceeded to rough up my horse. I grabbed her and left.

In that 5 hrs, I watched them kill 10 sheep for the students to preform experiments on. Grab the live animal by the neck, throw it into a wheelbarrow and wheel it down the hallway where the students picked it apart for what ever ungodly reason.

Oh and by the way, don't let your horse colic, it's 10,000$ before they will even see the horse and another 10,000$ or more if they have to preform surgery. Yep they fully understand that your companion/friend will die without the procedure. They really could care less..

They have the students that pay to go to school there, lots and lots of money each yr to get that education, anywhere from 20,000-60,000 every yr from each student. They have a very high number of students, then they charge outragous amounts for their service that the students that are paying them as well, preform. Great racket, boy if I tried that I'd be in jail for fraud!

Then lets take this another step, ok someone donates a horse to CSU thinking that it'll be cared for. WRONG! They tend to sell those horses at public auction, the exact one I go to is their favorite outlet.

Another problem, they do experiments on live lab animals. If your in the area and your dog or cat has come up missing. Well I would be sure to check there as well as your local pounds.

20 yrs ago I picketed CSU for mutilating newborn kittens. Cut the brain in half, cut off this or that limb, just to see how the mother would react to the kitten, how motherly her instincts were!

Needless to say CSU can you know what in my opinion. I put this here as a warning so you know what to expect from their care and services. If your going to use them you ought to know who your dealing with.
